Cherie Blenkiron Australasian Extracellular Vesicles Conference 2020

Cherie Blenkiron

Cherie is a Cancer Geneticist by training, gaining her PhD from the University of Edinburgh and subsequently moving to The University of Cambridge. Her move to the University of Auckland, NZ, in 2009 coincided with the establishment of a research program investigating the potential for microRNAs to act as non-invasive blood biomarkers for disease states. This work inevitably led to the broader investigation of extracellular vesicles with a current focus on gynaecological cancers. Cherie is the Associate Director of the Hub for Extracellular Vesicle Investigations based at the University of Auckland, only the second EV-focused facility to be established within Australasia. She helped to establish ANZSEV in 2021 and was the Society Secretary for 4 years. Cherie has been a board member of ISEV (2018-2022), co-chair of the ISEV2024 Annual Meeting and is a Deputy Editor for their flagship journal JEV.
